Though the tourism sector has yet to determine the proposed fee for this premium service, Peter Dutton, Australia Immigration Minister, clarified that passengers who would pay for this service would still need to undergo the normal process of Customs, immigration, biosecurity, and aviation security screenings.
The said proposal is part of the plan aiming to improve the experience for higher-class and business passengers.
In line with the implementation of the proposal, the Tourism and Transport Forum, a group that represents tourism and aviation operators, positively welcomed the proposal. According to Margy Osmond, head of the Tourism and Transport Forum, the proposal is no different from an airplane having an economy, business, and first-class.
